The Giant of Kandahar was an enormous humanoid creature allegedly encountered and killed by a group of American soldiers on a mountainside in Afghanistan. The story was first told on George Norry’s COAST TO COAST AM, back on December 3rd 2008 by Giantologist Steve Quayle and an unnamed pilot guest. Steve Quayle took the story and wrote a fictionalized version of the book called LONGWALKERS: THE RETURN OF THE NEPHILIM, but L.A. Marzuilli brought it to prominence on his YouTube channel in 2016.
Matt’s Thoughts:
I grew up watching UNSOVLED MYSTERIES. It is still a show I frequently watch to wind down before bed. When I was younger the tales of ghosts, spirits, and the unknown phenomenon’s spoke to me in ways that unsolved murder didn’t. While that has changed the older I’ve gotten, I still find myself drawn to these tales of Cryptids, or Monsters, or “Giants of Kandahar” that battled US soldiers in Afghanistan.
While the story is wholly unbelievable to me, it is still intriguing. I mean, the government keeps secrets from the citizens to maintain control. That isn’t a controversial statement to make in the slightest. We don’t know about the actions of clandestine operations overseas to protect our national interests. We don’t know how advanced Military weaponry is that is engaged in active combat. And we don’t know if our Government has hidden proof of anything that is paranormal.
It is that unknown that drives many people to believe in things like the Giant of Kandahar. For me its the idea that is the most fun. What if its real? What if you encountered it in the wild? Would anyone believe you?
