A Bavarian Treasure Hunter hired a local diver to pull an unknown golden artifact out of Lake Chiemsee in 2001. Unbeknownst to them, but the Chiemsee Cauldron was not a Celtic Artifact, but a Nazi one. One that was probably owned and celebrated by Henrich Himmler himself. And somewhere in the closing days of World War 2, the Cauldron found its way to the bottom of the lake where it sat for over 50 years. Now the Chiemsee Cauldron is wrapped in financial scandal after financial scandal while people try to profit off it’s history.
Matt’s Thoughts:
World War 2 will always fascinate people. It doesn’t matter if its 2022, or even 3022. The war was a battle for our humanity, and while the majority of the Axis used their resources to try to control and destroy human life that didn’t match their DNA profile, others went a step further and tried tapping into the Occult.
I can only imagine what it would be like to find the Nazi Holy Grail in the bottom of a lake. The story itself plays out like the precursor to an INDIANA JONES adventure. And when I first heard about the story I knew I had to talk about it.
I cannot help but wonder what other artifacts are out there. What other creations were used to try and tap into the spirit realm. It all seems so exciting, even if it is rooted in human atrocities.
Therein lies the problem with the love/focus on Word War 2. The technology created, the destructive force yielded upon Japan, and the fascination with the occult pale in comparison when you look at the people who really died. Maybe that’s why we are drawn to the more fantastical nature of it, to keep from truly acknowledging the utter loss of human life?
